Day 11 Going Organic Semi Raw

Eating Raw, Organic Foods

A continuation of my 30 day experiment with my diet I also added a list of food additives to that post.

Still trying to make sense of a lot of things with my eating. I tried a raw butternut squash recipe last night and I just couldn’t get it down no matter how hard I tried. I really wanted to like it too because it looked easy, fun and fresh. Wait a minute. Did this just turn into a dating site?

I ended up cooking a squash soup recipe (I also added organic carrots and organic celery) instead that turned out really nice but of course the idea of an all raw day was gone but the organic theme was still there. The soup turned out really good and was surprisingly filling. I did have to eat some almonds to fall asleep though because the soup was digested just at bedtime.

What else did I eat yesterday?

  • Well I had my shake I listed earlier.
  • I had the squash soup
  • I had some organic Bison sausage.
  • I had a whey protein shake which I think will be my last one.
  • Almonds all day
  • A couple organic kiwis and bananas and apples
  • Just about a gallon of water
  • How Am I Looking?

This is the weird part. My workout yesterday was strong. My muscles look great but don’t feel stringy and tight. By tight, I mean a ‘bad tight’. Yesterday my bodyfat % was up to 16% and today it is down to 14.9%. I think getting sick and losing all that water then rehydrating might have an effect on my measurements as well. Since I’m not using calipers and I’m using the omron bodyfat analyzer I don’t really know.

I’ll know for sure what’s up tonight when I jump on the scale before I teach my cardio class. That way I can adjust the setting on the bodyfat tester for a more accurate reading.

    Personal Notes:

I went to community foods (I’m in Calgary) and ran into an old Capoeira friend. I used to play Capoeira a lot and loved the music and community feeling of it. I stopped because I just couldn’t bend in ways I wanted to so I quit to work on my flexibility. Of course I worked on my stretching but nothing really special happened. We had a great talk. We’re both at sort of the same place now with not wanting to lose strength and power. Yet wanting to be spiritual. Going back and forth between vegetarian and eating organic meat. Looking for the optimum way to get the most from our diets, our lives and the earth in a balanced way.

We talked flexibility and yoga. A little about meditation, vipassana and ashtanga.

I’d have to say I am really liking the way life is working lately.
