You Dont Have To Be A Hippie To Eat Organic

Eating Raw, Organic Foods

Day 10 Of My Organic Diet continued from Eating Raw Food From An Organic Farm - An Experiment.

I got terribly sick yesterday! Not to be too graphic but both ends of me were kept really busy for about 6 hours. Then all of a sudden I was sound as a pound.

It could has been the spinach, the Bison which I tried to keep as uncooked as possible or a 24 hour stomach bug. I have no idea but I feel fine today.

I find myself getting a little stumped now and then as to how to add something “hearty” to the meals so today I will be looking for some great resources on meal planning and raw recipes. I’ll share them with you later as I find them.

As mentioned before I’ve settled on a 99% organic, 80% raw diet for now. I am slowly cutting back on protein from animal sources because of the cost of organic meat as well as the fact that I want to see if I can maintain or gain strength, power and size without stuffing back half a carcass a day or chugging dead protein powders that never seem to go bad (how does that work?).

At this point I am eating raw free range eggs with the odd protein shake (from rbST free whey protein with no artificial sweeteners.) and some free range bison for supper. Certainly not the 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight criteria that I have used most of my adult bodybuilding life.

One thing I have noticed is that running out of almonds and other nuts is a bad thing. Fruits and veggies are great but they just don’t stick around long enough. I almost HAVE to include nuts with each meal or I’m constantly eating which is a pain in the butt.

Besides the nuts, I find raw yams, broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, apples and kiwi to be the majority of my raw snacking foods.

I also really look forward to that Bison. Sorry to all the vegetarians, but there is still a predator in me I guess.

How Do I Feel?

Well besides the quick bout of gut sprints, I feel great. I must admit, now that I’m stretching all the time and eating my veggies, I do feel a bit hippie-ish… I’ve noticed that I wake up at 5AM without an alarm now and am fully awake. As per Paul Cheks advice, I’ve been getting to bed between 10:30 and 11:00 every night with a nice TV free wind down period before hand (not hard since I cancelled cable months ago).

How About My Strength?

All lifts are going up. I’ll save the stats for another post but everything is moving onward and upward. I have also been increasing my flexibility quite a bit and I’ll list the resource I am using for that in a later post as well.

That’s it for now, more to come.
